There are several 4 letter words we learned when we were younger that we shouldn’t say or were taught. You know, the “S” word or the “F” word. Those four-letter words. Now if you are like me, these and a few other choice words still managed to find their way in to your vocabulary. Sorry Mom. There is one 4 four-letter word that I have recently realized that people should remove from their vocabulary. It can be demeaning. It is used to put you down. Do you know what word I am talking about?

JUST.
You must remove the word "just" from your vocabulary. You may be wondering why in the world I would tell you to stop using this word. When you use the word “just” you are downplaying anything after that. And I will be the first to admit I am guilty of it. Think about it. When you are describing who you are or what you do, and you use the word just. I have heard some of my friends describe themselves as, “Just a stay at home mom.” I have described myself as “Just a sales coordinator” in our company. It is almost like we are embarrassed of what and who we are. Like it isn’t good enough to be that. NO!!! You need to say that with confidence and pride. Being a mom is an AMAZING title. Being a sales coordinator took a lot of work to get there. When I had to stop working out, I was asked what I could do for workouts. I would respond with “Oh I just walk now or just ride a bike.” Walking and riding a bike may not be as active as I used to be, but they are definitely workouts! For whatever reason, we subconsciously downplay our actions with that little four-letter word JUST. When we say these things repetitively to ourselves, we are doing damage to our subconscious mind. Do me a favor and make a conscious effort to NOT use the word just and see how much of a difference it can make you feel.
